Employability & Personal Development

We have just started working together with our second group of 'Trainee General Building Operatives'. Through a series of informal learning sessions, we will explore different aspects of employability, working together with the group to ensure they have the necessary skills to reach positive destinations.

During this introductory session we began to explore the group's thoughts on entering the workforce. We used a creative method to generate participation and encourage discussion. The groups split into two teams and created posters (using only images or drawings with no words). These posters would represent their thoughts on working as 'Trainee General Building Operatives'. The posters helped create a critical space where the group could discuss their new roles, their motivations for working, the skills they need to succeed and where they see themselves in the next six months. This proved to be a productive informal learning session.

Scotland 1- 0 Denmark

Once again, we would like to thank the 'Tartan Army Children's Charity' for their kind offer of support. Our group were delighted to receive their free official Scotland tops. We headed off to the game buzzing to see our first Scotland match.

After getting some grub we took our seats and watched the teams walk out onto the pitch. You can't beat football played under the floodlights!

What a night! Scotland won 1-0. We scored following a defensive mix up that allowed Bournemouth player, Matt Ritchie, to sneak in and bury his chance. Superb! Nights like these don't come around very often!
