Scotland 2 v 2 England

Well well well. Who saw that one coming!? What a day out we had at Hampden on Saturday. It really had it all. Great passion from both sets of fans and an almighty roar from our home support that drove the team on. Unfortunately we couldn't hold on for a momentous result but the draw was still well deserved.

Our group would like to say a massive thank you to the Tartan Army Children's Charity for their continued support. We'll never forget Saturday. For the right and wrong reasons! Oh to be Scottish :)

Those 4 minutes when Leigh Griffiths buried his two free kicks will live long in the memory.

Pathfinder - Work Training Programme (16-24 years olds in NW Glasgow)

Are you aged 16-24 years old and looking to find a job? Do you know young people who would be ready to take the next step and participate in our work training programme?
'Pathfinder' is aimed at 16-24 year olds in the North West of Glasgow. Together with our partner 'Workingrite', we (DRC Youth Project) aim to offer ongoing support to young people who are ready to make the next step in their lives. Through meaningful engagement, we will work together with each young person to find a positive pathway into employment no matter what situation they find themselves in.
Young people who participate in the programme will gain a 3 month placement with a suitable organisation. Each participant will receive £90 p/w and will gain accreditation during their time on the programme. There are opportunities to be kept on for apprenticeships and full time employment.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. Our office number is 0141-951-8669 or email us at gerard.drc@hotmail.com

Ryan, one of our Pathfinder trainees, is finishing up and moving on to a job he found himself as a result of the experience he gained from his placement with McGovern Decorators. We met up with him and his mentor Gus at the old transport museum in Glasgow that is being renovated.

T-Shirt Design Session

We had a great creative arts session with our 8-11 years group in Whiteinch last night.

17 of our members created their own designs and decorated t-shirts during club time.

We used fabric pens to create unique and colourful designs.

Check out some the brilliant designs in these pictures!

WCC NEWS!

Can't believe we forgot to post this work of art on our own blog!! Back in February our highly talented 8-11 years group in Whiteinch worked together to create this amazing video. The group co-wrote, filmed and starred in their own news report for Whiteinch Community Centre (WCC) News. Have a look at the video above and find out more about the hottest news on the planet. This report focussed on a 'Lost Kid in Space', a 'Hidden Underwater Kingdom' and a 'Zombie Outbreak in Hollywood!'. Tune in now!

Residential 2017

After much anticipation we headed off on our first residential since 2012!!. We took 20 young people (aged 12-16 years) from Yoker and Scotsotun for 2 nights to 'The Benmore Centre'.

This cross community initiative gave DRC staff an opportunity to work together with the group away from their usual surroundings. We took part in a number of activities which promoted team work and helped foster respect between one another.

We'd like to thank Sandy Busby at the Yoker Resource Centre, John Dillon and Mark Edgar for providing us with safe transport to and from the trip, Lloyds PDI for their continued support and Karen Venables at Community Safety Glasgow for helping us get the show on the road!
