'Pathfinder' - Youth Employability Programme for NW Glasgow

'Pathfinder' is aimed at 16-24 year olds in the North West of Glasgow. Together with our partner 'Workingrite', we (DRC Youth Project) aim to offer ongoing support to young people who are ready to make the next step in their lives. Through meaningful engagement, we will work together with each young person to find a positive pathway into employment no matter what situation they find themselves in.

Young people who participate in the programme will gain a 3 month placement with a suitable organisation. Each participant will receive £90 p/w and will gain accreditation during their time on the programme. There are opportunities to be kept on for apprenticeships and full time employment.

Are you aged 16-24 years old and looking to find a job? Do you know young people who would be ready to take the next step and participate in the programme?

If so, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. Our office number is 0141-951-8669 or email us at gerard.drc@hotmail.com

Officially Amazing!

On Sunday, 18 young people from our 8-11 years group (Yoker, Scotstoun and Whiteinch) were invited to the BBC studios!

We took part in the filming of an episode of 'Officially Amazing!". As members of the studio audience, we were in the thick of the action! During the show we witnessed the world record being broken for the number of Christmas Crackers pulled in 30 seconds!

We watched a contortionist break the world record for the number of eggs put in an egg cup only using your feet while bent over backwards! We also seen someone fail to beat the world record for hitting golf balls over 50 yards while on a unicycle!!

Cross Community Halloween Party!

Sorry if our blogs been a little bit quiet lately. We've been so busy and haven't been able to stop for a breath! There has been loads 'n' loads going on! Here is just a snapshot of our latest cross community event. We hosted a Halloween Party for young people (aged 8-11 years) from Yoker, Scotstoun and Whiteinch. What a crazy night of music, games and laughter! Some amazing costumes and some excellent dance moves on show.

Scotstoun 'Summer Open Event'

We held our annual 'Summer Open Event' in Scotstoun during the school holidays.

We used this day to generate a bit of buzz around the club in Scotstoun.

We had DJ workshops, special effects make up sessions, face painting, fun games and loads of healthy food options and prizes!!

DRC v G15

What a game we had on Tuesday evening between the DRC and G15 Youth Project. An incredible effort from everyone involved. The attitude from each player was spot on. There was commitment, a desire to challenge, great skill and a mutual respect between the players. Our previous match against one another was a very close match. It finished 4-3 to our lads but G15 were never out the game. Similar to the previous game, we once again steamed ahead, this time it was 6-1 in the blink of an eye. But fair play to the G15 team, they never give up. They clawed their way back into the game and managed to find an equaliser with the last kick of the game! incredible scenes. G15 then won the resulting penalties 3-1. Our team was gutted but we know we will be there or thereabouts in the next game. All set up for a decider!! Game on!

SPLAT!

Our group have been having a ball in our Tuesday club for 8-11 years olds. Last week we all took our turn during games of 'SPLAT!". Some were luckier than others!!!!

Tuesday Night - Football

We had an excellent training session last night with the 15+ group up at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre. Great to see a few old faces getting involved again with the group. We will be playing G15 Youth Project next Tuesday evening in a 7-a-side friendly. We narrowly won the first match 4-3 so we're expecting another close contest. All played in the right spirit so everyone is up for it.
